Hi, my name is Gábor Goldschmidt.
My passion for the guitar—and later for building guitars—started when I was around 12 or 13, after discovering Deep Purple’s Made in Japan album. From that moment, music became a vital part of my life.

Although I graduated as a civil engineer, music quickly took over. During university I founded my first band, which is still considered one of the most well-known Pink Floyd tribute bands in Hungary. Around the same time, I also began experimenting with building instruments—first in my family’s garage, and later as an apprentice in the Benedek brothers’ workshop in Csepel.

After finishing my degree, I spent my days as an engineer and my evenings in the Fibenare workshop. Eventually, guitar making won me over completely, left my job as a civil engineer and  worked as a luthier for 15 years, where I learned the full craft—from winding pickups to woodworking, hardware, and finishing. Over those years, I created around 700–800 instruments, many of which were showcased at the Frankfurt Musikmesse, the Los Angeles NAMM Show, and other major international exhibitions.

After fifteen years, I decided to go my own way. With Goldschmidt Handmade Instruments, I follow the same uncompromising principles: building guitars that are comfortable, inspiring, and free from compromise. For me, it doesn’t matter whether a guitar is part of a “series” or a completely unique custom order—the goal is always the same: the joy of the musician.

Every Goldschmidt guitar is crafted from carefully selected materials with engineering precision. I design and build my own pickups, and I prefer traditional handcrafting over computer-controlled machinery. I believe this is what keeps the craft authentic, keeps the mind sharp, and makes each instrument truly alive.

1. What comes in the box, when I purchase a guitar?

  • Handmade guitar (set up according your preferences) in it’s hardcase
  • Certificate of Authenticity
  • Engarved Goldschmidt logo leather strap
  • Tools (Allen keys for trussrod and bridge)

2. Do you ship Wordwide?

  • Yes, I use Fedex sevice to ship wordwide.

3. Do you have a Warranty on your insuments?

  • Yes. Each Goldschmidt instrument is covered by a limited warranty for 20 years against faulty workmanship and defective materials. Hardware (bridge, tuners, etc.) is covered by warranty given by its’ manufacturer.  The purchaser agrees to pay all freight expences of the instrument.

    The warranty does not cover normal wear and defects caused by accident, misuse or natural cracking of lacquer (sudden changes of temperature or humidity). This warranty is valid for the original purchaser only. If the warranty is to be continued after change of owner, the instrument has to be inspected by the manufacturer. Only Goldschmidt Handmad Instuments is authorized to do repairs under warranty. Warranty is void if the instrument is not registered (in e-mail to info@gaborgoldschmidt.com) within 30 days from the purchase. No other kind of written or oral warranty applies. 

4. Do you sell guitars direct or through a dealer?

5. Can I customize my guitar?

  • Sure! As all guitarist are different, I am happy to make your instument totally unique. The basic model parameter is the shape of the instrument. You can choose your woods, you can ask for a different scale lengths, other pickup configurations, bridges, you name it.

6. Do you offer aging on your guitars?

  • Yes. If you wish, I can age your instrument,you can choose closet (basic nitro cracking), light (some dips and stratches), medium (visible worn look)  and hard (beaten up, like e truck) aging. 

7. What is the build time usually? How long will I wait to get my guitar?

  • The build time of the instrument depends on quite few factors (current build list, complexity of the instument, accessibility of woods and parts), but the rule of thumb says it’s usually 3-6 months.

8. All your guitars are handmade?

  • Yes, I use only traditional tools to shape my guitars, no CNC or other computer controlled technique is used to form the instruments.
9. Can I ask for a custom set of pickups to be winded in my axe?
  • Sure, as I wind my own pickups, making them to custom specs is not a problem for me.

10. I’ve found my dream pickup already, can you put it in the axe you build me?

  • That is not a problem at all, my goal is your happiness. You can ship the pickup to me, or I can purchase it for your build.
